Targeted Literacy Interventions at GFD Secondary
At GFD, we are committed to ensuring that every student has the tools and support they need to thrive as confident readers and communicators. As part of this commitment, we run data-informed weekly literacy intervention sessions in our secondary school, providing a targeted and supportive space focused on reading comprehension.
Focused Support for Reading Success
These small-group sessions are designed to help students strengthen their understanding of texts, build academic vocabulary and develop key comprehension strategies. Whether students need a little extra guidance or a structured space to grow their skills, these sessions provide tailored support in a calm, encouraging environment.
Building Confident, Capable Learners
Through engaging texts and guided discussion, students learn how to extract meaning, analyse language and respond thoughtfully—essential skills for success across all subjects. Our aim is not just to support reading, but to unlock students’ full potential as learners, thinkers and writers.
These weekly interventions are a vital part of our whole-school literacy approach, ensuring that every learner at GFD has the opportunity to read with confidence and achieve with pride
