Celebrating Literacy at GFD
At GFD, we believe in nurturing a love of reading and celebrating the power of words across our school community. This term, we have hosted a variety of engaging literacy events that brought students, staff and families together in joyful celebration of books and storytelling.
Family Reading Picnic
Our outdoor reading picnic was a wonderful opportunity for families to come together and enjoy stories under the sun. Students brought along their favourite books, shared stories with loved ones and celebrated the simple joy of reading in a relaxed, community-focused setting.
World Book Day
World Book Day at GFD was a vibrant, school-wide celebration of imagination and creativity. Students and staff took part in themed reading activities and explored new genres through interactive sessions, games and quizzes.
Literacy Celebration Assemblies
Every year group took part in a special literacy assembly, where we recognised individual achievements in reading, writing, spelling and handwriting. From creative storytellers to dedicated readers, our students were celebrated for their efforts, progress and passion for literacy.
These events are part of our ongoing commitment to promoting a rich and inclusive reading culture, where every student is inspired to find joy and confidence through literacy.
